parakeet feather loss and possible human itching

Our parakeet is 7 or 8 years old. About 5 years ago, she started losing feathers on her chest until most were gone. I took her to an avaian vet who said she was stressed without a mate. She seems healthy and cheerful but has stayed this way and has also lost more feathers oon her legs and under her wings.
Lately we have felt our hair itching when near her. Is this just coincidence? Can birds transmit something to human hair?
And could she have a problem that the vet failed to diagnose?
Thanks

What tests did your avian vet run to determine it was stress from not having a mate? Dr B will need to know what tests were already done and what the results were before suggesting other tests that may need to be run.

No, your bird is not making you itch when you are near her.

Please read Dr B's Feather Damaging Behavior article and then find another avian vet to examine your bird, if the first one did not run any tests. Find an Avian Vet
