parakeet harmed wing
by: Linda

All pet birds need to have their wings clipped so they cannot fly into things around the home. A fully flighted bird in the house is faced with many dangers. The 6 long Primary flight feathers are all that needs clipping, and they are the long ones at the end of each wing. Never have the vet cut up any higher as this causes bird chronic pain and cripples it for a safe landing.

In this case, take bird to Avian Vet to see if wing is broken because bird's bones are hollow and easily broken. Anytime birds are out of their cages, whether flighted or not, they need to be supervised and this means all the time they are outside cage.

Parakeet injured wing

Dr B can not help, because he can not examine your bird or x-ray the wing. Your bird needs to be seen in person by an avian vet.
