Parakeet having seizures

I have a year-old parakeet named Orbie. A few weeks ago, he flew wildly in the cage as I was trying to clean the perches. Later that night, he was sitting on the bottom, leaning to one side, looking like he was very weak & ready to die. He did survive, but has not been right since. He seems very fragile, still weak & unsteady, & has begun having seizures several times a day. It breaks my heart. I am taking him to the vet. I want him to live, but not to suffer. I hope they can help him.

My beloved parakeet
by: Anonymous

A month ago I took my parakeet to the vets because his head kept on twitching. When she looked at him she told me that he had epilepsy, and that there wasn't anything she could do. He had a bunch of other medical problems to. He was blind in one eye due to a cataract, he also had a mini stroke which crippled him badly, he couldn't even fly, and was walking lop sided due to the stroke. Also he had a tumor on his chest which was pressing against his lungs, he could barely breathe from it. At 12:30 this afternoon he lost his battle with the tumor on his lungs and passed away in my arms. He was 10 years old, and I will never forget him ever, he had a good long life with me and I am grateful for all the joy he brought my life. RIP my little one. I'll miss you.

Parakeet having seizures

It sounds like it injured itself when fluttering around as you were cleaning the cage. I am glad you are taking the bird to a vet. Please Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird, dog/cat vets often accidentally kill birds due to lack of training and experience.
