Parakeet limping on right foot

Hi, I have a 9 yr old female parakeet, had her since she was about 1yr old, she's been very healthy over the years but around (Oct.2008) I noticed she had been sitting on one foot and wouldn't let the right foot down. I thought it was normal as alot of birds do sit on one foot sometimes,I tried to pick her up off the perch in her cage to see if something was wrong but she got out of my hand and dropped to the bottom of her cage, she tried to fly up to the perch but couldn't. I put her back up on her perch and she was limping terribly and pulled her foot back up puffed her feathers and wouldn't move, then after a few days she was fine.
(April 2009)
now its happening all over again. She hasnt flown into a wall or had her foot stuck in anything, she is a cage baby and doesnt like to come out an play much.
Do you have any ideas on why this is happening?

Thank you :)

Sick bird

What you are describing is a sick or injured bird. You need to take her to see an avian veterinarian immediately.
