parakeet molting for more than 2 weeks

Is it normal for a parakeet to molt for more than 2 weeks? She has beem loosing a lot of fethers from all over her body, near the top of her head it is starting to go bald in spots.She also looks like she is breathing heavier than our male. other than tha she acts normal.

My Booby

My Booby is about 5-6 months old and seems to be molting forever - he is not bald (yet) but loses some feathers (mostly little fuzzy ones) every day - i feel so bad for him

Editor's note: If you can see where the feathers fell out, then it is not a molt. If your bird has not been to an avian vet for a check up and vaccination, then it would be a good time for a vet visit.

Molting parakeet

Molting can and does last this long and even longer, so that is normal. However, bald spots are not normal and you should have your bird examined by an avian veterinarian.
