parotlett old age? or side affect of stroke?

Our mother's bird seems to be sleeping a lot (more than normal) since yesterday. We were told she is about 8 yrs. and has been seen having stroke like symptoms occasionally. We have been bird sitting for the last week and a half, and have also noticed these symptoms.
We are unable to reach Mom, and are curious if this "new behavior" (sleeping lots, right side rigid but limp on occasion) warrants interrupting a family emergency? or if we should just continue watching her closely?
We are wondering if maybe she is just getting old and on her last weeks?
