Thanks for writing, and here are a few thoughts about this. Firstly, birds should not be allowed free flight in the home because they can become poisoned or injured with this kind of freedom. He should not have free access to the floor because no matter how clean home is kept, floors are dirty and are where toxins from off our shoes can be picked up.

Take your bird to an Avian (bird) Vet in your area and have him/her checked for viral and bacterial infections as well as some basic blood work to make sure his Kidneys, Liver, Thyroid and Parathyroid are functioning properly. WHILE AT THE VET'S, HAVE THEM TRIM HIS PRIMARY FLIGHT FEATHERS. These are the 6 long feathers at the bottom or end of wings. Have only these 6 trimmed on each side. This will allow him to gently glide to the floor instead of dropping like a rock and being injured. Once wings are clipped, you will need to watch him ALL THE TIME HE IS OUTSIDE OF HIS CAGE to make sure he is okay. You can move his cage from room to room if you wish, but he will need to be supervised when outside his cage to make sure he does not get into trouble.

Hope this helps and keep in touch so we know how things are going.
