parrot laying eggs

by shelly sunderland
(england)

Hi i came home from work 2 days ago to find my eclectus had laid an egg! she has since laid another. i have been told to remove the eggs as this could put my parrot in danger when she realises the egg wont hatch. is this the right thing to do? why has she suddenly started to do this?

Eclectus laying eggs
by: Tracie

Only remove the eggs if they are broken or she is not interested in sitting on them. If she has a desire to sit on the eggs, and you remove them, she will keep laying eggs.

Please read our Chronic Egg Laying article for more information on caring for birds that lay eggs.
