Parrot plucks baby's hair

by Maria Ejaz

My male opeline red rumped parrot has a habit of plucking the female's hair. Now their babies have come out of the next box and have no feathers except one or two wing feathers. they cant fly and i have seen the male plucking their hair. It hurts them and they bang around the cage trying to fly. How can i remove his bad habit? They are well fed by the parents and are afraid of me and i cant hand raise them.

You need to immediately find another experience breeder to take these birds. Please do NOT allow any birds to breed in your home again until you have helped another breeder and gain experience. So sorry you are going through this. Many people just don't realize all it takes to breed birds, or don't think ahead and allow their birds to breed. You are not alone.
