Parrotlet losing feathers

My parrotlet is only a couple years old she shares a cage with her mate which is a parrotlet too. She has recently been getting thin and than i realized that all of her feathers on her stomache and chest are plucked. She also has kind of a bump on her chest right below her neck. There are absolutley no feathers on her stomache or chest. is her mate hurting her? should i take her out of his cage and keep them apart? is this supposed to happen? i dont know what to do.. help!

You have answered your own questions!

Yes, please separate them for now and get your little one to an avian vet as soon as possible to inspect the bump. It could be anything causing the feather loss: infection, bugs, or stress. But the bump is something else and needs to be looked at by a professional.

As a matter of fact, if you can, take them both in for a checkup.

There is a link on this site to find avian vets in your area so please do that quickly. The health of the one, if not both, could be at risk.

Good luck. You obviously care a lot for your pets. Let us know how things turn out.
