This happened to my parrotlet, too!

With my parrotlet, Comet, his eye got "glued" shut with the discharge. What I did was I held Comet (with gloves on), while another person squirted SALINE SOLUTION into/ on his eye. His eye opened almost immiediatley and he has not had the discharge in his eye ever since.

You are going to need the help of another person, since you need someone to hold the bird and someone to squirt thhe saline solution.

Hope this helps!

You need to take your bird to an avian vet for help. If you can get your bird to take a bath, then it may help if the cause is something in the eye. The bird may still have an infection from having something stuck in the eye, so a vet visit is still in order.

Please make sure that your bird does not take baths in it's water dish. Many birds get bacterial infections from bathing in dirty water, or from drinking dirty water. Our vet suggests using a Lixit water bottle instead of water dishes.
