Parrotlets - adding another bird

My parole Priest is very after I've had her for about two weeks. I love her so much and enjoy it so much that I would like to get another one. Particularly a male and I wouldn't keep them in the same cage I would like some opinions on this and to know if that is ok!!! Thanks so much I look forward to your answers!

Parrotlets - adding another bird
by: Linda

In the case of more parrots, it is not always such a good idea. If you've only had your bird for a short while, it is too early to add another bird. It takes a long time to fully bond with a new bird and for that bird to put its trust in you.

When you do add another bird, make sure it goes to the Avian Vet BEFORE being brought into your home. Whatever illness it may have will be given to your other bird and these small birds don't last long with untreated infections. All new birds have to be examined by an avian vet during the first few days to rule out infections or other physical problems.

If there is a reason why you cannot take your bird to an avian vet, then you don't need to have a bird at all. Birds do get sick or injured and will need to be helped by an avian vet sometime. I can tell you really love your little bird, so make sure he is seen now and at least once a year from now on to keep him in good health. It is part of your commitment to give him a good, happy, healthy life, and he will appreciate all you do for him.

Thanks for writing,
Linda
