Passion Fruit okay for birds?

by Lindy

I have an Indian Ringneck Parrot that we rescued from a bad home. Are Passionfruit OK to feed them, as we have access to a lot of these, but I cannot find it on any safe / unsafe food lists.

I nobly left a little bit in each one of some passionfruit that I was given, and stood them carefully in a shallow dish on the bird table for a treat for the wild birds....not one was touched. I won't bother again, my treat was a flop.

Hi and thanks for writing. There is a list of toxic and safe woods, plants, veggies and fruits on this site, and Passion Fruit is NOT on the safe fruit list, so I recommend you not give any to your bird.

You may wish to look at and print out the list of safe and unsafe woods and food items that you can find here on this site because it is always good to have these in printed form so it is easier to find what you are looking for quickly.
