peach faced lovebird loosing feathers

My peach faced lovebird is loosinga lot of feathers, it was given to me by a friend and when I got it it was already a bit bold from her head. But ive had her for a while now and she seems to be loosing even more feathers around her ear and more of her head. It has seemed as if she's passed it on to her mate because her mate never had any feather loss and now he is loosing feathers on his neck. I make sure they dont lack nutrients and vitamins in their diet but im not sure why its happening. Is their any treatment or medication to help them? Im thinking of also taking them to a vet to get them checked. I dont know if its molting or if its mites because I watch them everyday and they dont pluck their feathers out but they do scratch a lot and flap there wings as if there trying to dust something off. Can this feather loss kill them? And what can I do to help them?

The only way to make sure your bird is not lacking nutrients is to feed your bird 80% high quality pellets and only 20% treats. Don't feed anything that has sugar, food coloring and chemicals. No processed human foods etc. either.

Please Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird.
