You cannot use pesticides if you have birds or other inside pets as it is toxic to breathe.

You can use Diatamacious Earth which is ground up shells and is good to spread around the outside of house which will keep ants from coming in. If you use this inside, your birds and other pets will need to be removed while you are doing it in the because it is very finely ground shell material and will cause lung damage if breathed in. I suggest you use that or baby powder around the outside edges of your house, right up to the house and on the ground or concrete. If that does not stop them coming in, then you'll have to use one or the other inside the house. The baby power ca be spread carefully without removing pets from house, but put container down low to the bottom edges of walls to make sure the powder does not get all up into the air. If using the Diatamacious Earth, please wear a rebreather mask whether you are spreading it inside or outside and remove all pets if using it inside the house because it is very tiny particles of shell and can hurt your or their lungs.
