Pionus parrot nail trimming

Any suggestions for clipping my birds nails? He is a white capped pionus parrot. It always seems to tramatize him to do this and he fights every step of the way.

I used to clip my bird's nails, but then became old and slow, so have to take them to Avian Vet so they can do it about every four months. If we are too slow, our birds can actually die from the stress of being chased, held and reheld, so it is better to take them to avian vet's office where vet and his assistant work together on each bird's nails.

It will not cost much for you to get this small bird's nails clipped at the avian vet's, and sometimes you don't even need an appointment as a vet assistant can do this without appointment. Do call and let them know when you'll be dropping by though, in case someone is out sick or something.

The Avian vets and their staff know exactly how to do this quickly and easily without hurting birds or causing undue stress.

Thanks for caring and try having the avian vet's people do this because then they are the bad guys, and you are the Angel who saves the bird from their hands and takes him/her home to safety. May sound silly, and it is very much how parrot's think when having wings, nails and beaks clipped.
