Please Help - sudden change

I have a 2 year old green cheek conure. About an hour ago he was playing, screaching and doing all he has always done. Then all of a sudden he began acting lethargic and extremely clingy. more than usual. I get no response when I do the things that annoy him like touch his back feathers, instead he nuzzles in closer. as well he is squeaking, Is he dying?

Sudden change

Hopefully you have taken your bird to an avian vet already. Any sudden change could indicate an illness or perhaps the bird got into something toxic. Household cleaners, scented candles, air fresheners, bug spray, even perfume and cologne should not be used around birds. Did you feed him anything new? I once let my bird try a piece of green pepper and she acted the same way but was better in a short time. When a bird is dying, it usually doesn't eat, drink or perch anymore and stays at bottom of cage. Hope your bird is better.

Change is not always GOOD!

No one can tell you better of what is happening for the exception of an AVIAN, please make sure you get a real one and not a DOG and CAT place that take birds too. I have seen this happen personally too many times, and these VETS are reading on the LAP TOPS in the office about the possibilities.

You need to get an avian vet appointment ASAP! Please use this Find an Avian Vet link to find an avian vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be.
