Toe tapping & plucking have so many causes when it come to eclectus parrots.

Toe tapping causes, stress, deficient in calcium, allergy to a specific food (can be a healthy food), deficient in vitamin A, eating sour or old food. There are many more causes but these some of the most common ones.

Since you ask 'is something wrong with him', you should seek an avian vet in your area asap. Yes of course something is wrong if he's doing these things.

My eclectus toe tapped on high potency pellets (natural). My vet 'tested' this on several occasions & discovered it was in fact the cause. So my point is you need to speak to your own vet & get your bird tested to rule out anything & get your vets advice on dieting & follow your vets advice. What may work well for some eclectus does not mean it works on all.

My eclectus is on much lower potency pellets, they're not 'as natural' as the high potency were but he's having no problems on them (10% pellets at the vets recommendation) & he's been healthy for 5 years & my vet is very happy with his progress on this. He's not toe tapped since.

It could be something you are feeding your bird, or something else. Please Find an Avian Vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be.

Eclectus do better on about 65-70% pellets and 30-35% fresh vegetables and other healthy treats according to our avian vet that has seen both Eclectus parrots that do not eat pellets and those that do for over 30 years. The ones that eat Eclectus safe food and pellets have less health problems.
