Hi, I have a 7 month ol ringneck. He started plucking his feathers about two months ago. I took him/her to an avian vet and he gave him antibiotics and told me that i should bring him back, I did and he said my ringneck was fine, but he still keeps plucking. I give him probiotics, vitamins, and minerals. He started getting much better, got almost all his feathers back. And now suddenly has started plucking again! Can it be because of season change? And how do i keep him warm during our cold winter. He lives in doors. Thanx! Natasha

Bird plucking feathers

First, since you took him to an avian vet already, you should call that vet and share what is happening. Maybe the infection, or whatever was wrong before, did not totally clear up.

Plucking is never a "seasonal" thing. Please read the Feather Damaging Behavior article on our Parrot Training page for more information.
