Feces on vent

You should worry that it happened the first time. You need to take your bird in for a work up. I fact, birds, especially the healthy ones, should be seen by an avian veterinarian annually for well-bird check ups and vaccinations.

Yes, it is one of the first signs of a bacterial infection, and it sticks because the stool is runny and gummy. Please make an appointment with an Avian Vet and take your bird in for a diagnosis and treatment. Bird will become more and more ill with bacterial infections. They DO NOT JUST GET OVER infections, they must be diagnosed as to specific type of bacteria involved and treated with anitbiotics vet gives you. Never treat your bird with meds someone else gave you or told you about, and never use any over the counter meds--even those and maybe especially those you find in pet stores. All the antibiotics you find in pet stores are of the Tetracycline family and can do great damage to kidneys and livers. Plus they may not clear up the infection.

Basically, when your bird is sick, she needs to see an Avian vet in order to get well.

As far as I know, that is a sign of illness. Please make an appointment with your avian vet so that your bird can be examined in person.
