I have had my cocatiel for one month. His sex and age are unknown. When he gets covered up of a night he will not poop in his cage. Once Iuncover him he cant wait to get out,then dose the biggest poop. Why dose he do this??

My conure does the same thing . . . poops only during the day, in exactly the same spot in his cage, and almost never poops in it at night. It's a bird thing He is happy (and so am I).

Some birds don't like to poop at night because in the wild it can draw predators to them while they are sleeping. I've had two Greys, and one saved her poop all night and did a monster dump in the morning, and the other happily poops all night long. As long as your bird is acting normal and healthy in all other ways, this is a perfectly fine behavior.
