You can see here how the slide out grate is very well separated from the slide out tray. This keeps your bird out of the droppings below and makes for easy clean up also.

Please do NOT ask me if it is big enough for your bird, only you can see your bird and only you can decide if the cage is big enough.

Determining space for bird:To measure your bird's actual sitting height, hold a measuring stick outside the cage and line it up vertically with a cage bar at the side of your bird. Measure from the head to the tail. For instance, even though my bird may be 10 inches long, when sitting on a perch it only needs 4.5 inches vertically.

Customer Comments

1) All but the one's below love this cage and have nothing negative to say. One person decided on an Adventure Pack after hearing of these two opinions.

2) One man did not like the way the latches attached. He was afraid that some day they would come unscrewed and the spring would "fly" off. (I am not sure how they would come unscrewed by themselves.)

3) One lady felt the cage should have something to secure the cage together. Here are her exact words - "I will likely be attaching several thin plastic 'attachers' (sorry, but I do not recall what they are called!) looping the ends of the cage bars together to ensure that my bird is kept safely inside the cage in case of a fender bender or if something should happen while she is outside." (This cage is very secure, I am not sure why she felt this way accept that there are not bolts holding the cage together. The cage has rolled steel pieces that lock together to make this a sturdy cage.)

4) One man wrote a reply to the lady above questioning if it would hold together:

I own one of the Poquito Hotel cages and just wanted to put any fears that it will fall apart in an accident to rest. Everything happened without my bird in it. One day I had to stop very fast while doing 55mph and the cage wasn't secured with a seat belt. It hit the dash and bounced around a little but still stayed together.

My truck doesn't have ABS so when I hit the brakes the tires stopped moving. It has been dropped and knocked off of things and always stayed together. The maximum height it has fallen has been about 6 feet. The food cups came out of the holders a few times but the cage has stayed together.

My only problem was the handle coming off but a little spreading of the sides has taken care of that. My Caique has no probs when we hit the road. He has a swing, wooden perch, and a 30oz water cup in addition to the 2 food cups in it. On occasion a treat cup has been added and he still has plenty of room to be a clown and entertain people in other cars beside us. The kids at stop lights love watching him.
