possible broken toe

by Shirley

my parakeet is favoring its back toe on his right foot, and it looks like it may be broken. I noticed the back toe is sideways and the foot is blueish/black. I think that it might have gotten it caught in the rope toy or on something else in its cage. I was just wondering if there is anything other than removing the toys, which I have done already, that I could do for it.

We don't have a vet locally that takes care of small birds. I have read that the leg will eventually heal on its own, but I feel so bad about it. Please, any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your help.

Possible broken toe on bird

Yes, take him to an avian veterinarian for treatment and pain control.

It may heal on its own or may not. First, he is in pain and that needs to be managed. Second, find an avian veterinarian even if you have to drive.
