possible tumor

My cockatiel has a growth on left wing- about 1/2 inch around- no blood- doesnt pick at it- took to a Vet and was told I could have surgery done but since the bird is 12- 13 yrs old, she felt that it would be a risk and I cannot afford the price of surgery- the way it sounded the bird would probably die shortly- that was 3 1/2 mos ago. Bird seems to be doing just find. Is there anything else I can do to keep him alive?

Dr B can not help, because he has not examined your bird nor run tests on the tumor.

Did you go to an avian vet?

Did the vet do a biopsy on the growth?

What did the vet say the growth was if he/she did a biopsy?

If you didn't see an avian vet, it is possible that the vet doesn't know enough about birds to have any confidence in treating your bird.

You need to ask the vet why he/she said what they did, because only they know what they meant.

Let us know what you find out. Dr B can give an opinion, but he needs facts in order to have an opinion.
