Psycho Eclectus

by William M Wilson

I am at my wits end with my wife's Eclectus.
I am afraid the bird will do some serious harm. She was initially very loving and friendly. She started laying eggs then plucking finally jumping off her cage and ended up claiming our downstairs closet as her territory. I can no longer pick her up off the floor, she is a very serious biter. She always tries to attack my feet if I am donning, wearing or removing shoes/socks.

She has bitten my wife, who works at home, especially if if Linda is using a phone. While working in the yard yesterday I heard a series of horrible screams and ran in to find my wife bleeding from several wounds. I am afraid of attacks to the face or eyes! Linda has tried for several years with diet changes, medication, various medicines and other stuff.

I hate to just lock the cage and shut the bird up forever, is there rescue center in Arizona that can put the crazy bird in an aviary and give it some room to live? We've had two previous parrots and had great experiences with them.

I'm not an animal hater, it was heart breaking when my Amazon died of a heart attack,
I'm just tired of this!

Eclectus needs to be re-homed

I am sorry to hear this, but this is a common problem with female eclectus.

This is the only one in AZ that I know of. It is a great place.
