Pulling out feathers

by Melanie
(Perth, Australia )

I have two alexandrines both 3months old, one has a perfect coat and the other birds coat looks rough in patches and he has pulled both his long tail feathers out. I have treated them for both mites and worms. Why might this happen to only one?

Bird pulling out feathers
by: Tracie

Dr B can not tell without examining your bird. There are many things that cause this. It could have an infection or disease. Please Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird in person.

Please read our Feather Damaging Behavior article written by our avian vet for more information on this behavior.
