Quaker Parrot beak movement

by Katrina
(Louisiana)

Why might my Quaker Parrot move his beak as he would chew (really fast) but no noise is made whatsoever?

Quaker Parrot beak movement

They move the lower mandible under the upper mandible to remove food that has lodged there. This is the way they clean their beaks. They will also wipe beaks on a handy perch, so make sure perches are kept clean. Use a bird safe non toxic cleaner on cages, toys and perches. Never use bleach or ammonia or pine cleaners as those are highly toxic for birds and people as well. Non toxic cleaners can be found here. Most household cleaners found in grocery stores are highly toxic for birds, dogs, cats and people, so use a safe non toxic cleaner for the entire house. Pet Focus cleaner is found here and can be used on all household surfaces.
