Quaker parrot can barely open left eye

My Quaker parrot can barely open his eye an it looks as there's crust on it. He won't let us get near it to remove the crust. What should we do?

Your description sounds like the eye is infected. It is likely a bacterial infection, but it could be a disease or virus etc. The only way to know is to take the bird to see an avian vet in person.

Please use this Find an Avian Vet link to find an avian vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be.

As a side note, Dr B suggested to another person that wrote about their bird having an infection, "Switch her to a water bottle because water bowls are the number one source of pseudomonas bacteria which is a very common cause for illness and plucking. You need to wash the water dish every three hours to prevent this. A Lixit water bottle is more sanitary and can be changed once every 24 hours without the chance of bacterial infections. Be careful not to over bathe and over dry as this will cause dry skin and make the problem worse."
