Hi. My mom's 6 year old Quaker Parrot has a small, pink growth on the top-side of her beak. It's a recent development, hasn't been there for long. She doesn't seem in distress. Eats normal, climbs around and outside the cage like normal and does her usual bird talk.

I've looked for Avian vets around her area and there are none. I even clicked on the "Find an Avian Vet" to the left hand side on this site but still nothing. She's checked with her dog's vet and they told her they don't treat birds.

I was searching online but didn't find anything resembling the growth. She doesn't know what to do without a vet around her. She's a Senior and doesn't travel far from home. I don't live near her so can't take the bird to a far away vet. Was hoping it's not something serious.

Just wandering how your mom's quaker is doing. We have an 11 year old quaker and he has a bad growth that started a few months ago. We also have no avian vets in the area. I hope it's nothing serious.

If there are not any avian vets within driving distance, then look for an individually owned pet store or a reputable breeder to contact. Ask who treats their sick birds.

There is just no way to determine if this is something serious over the Internet, and no avian vet can prescribe treatment without seeing the bird.
