Quaker parrot with an itchy bottom

Why does my quaker stand on one leg and scratch at its bottom with the other leg. Is she constipated or trying to remove an egg?

I have no idea how to tell if your bird is constipated or egg bound, but there is something you can do before taking your bird to an avian vet.

Place clean white paper or paper towels on the bottom of the cage, under the grate so the bird doesn't chew them, to see if the bird is pooping, and what the poop looks like. If the bird is eating and pooping normally, then it isn't constipated.

If your bird is eating a healthy pellet diet, like Harrison's, you don't have to worry about egg binding. If your bird is not on a healthy diet, and lays eggs, then you need to get your bird to an avian vet immediately if you really think it is egg bound.
