quaker with missing neck feathers, red sore skin

by Kellie Pollock
(NSW, Sydney, Australia)

My ten month old quaker, male, has missing neck feathers and the area looks sore and red, irritated. He lives with his girlfriend, another quaker, female, and she seems ok...she is a little bossy and iv seen her peck him sometimes.

We have moved 3 times in 8 months and now we are settled, and have a new puppy. Do u think the bird is stressed? He is very attached to me and i used to have on my shoulder always and now i only have him out once a day.

Quaker plucked by another bird
by: Tracie

You need to separate the birds right away and Find an Avian Vet to examine the bird that has been plucked to make sure there is not an infection.

You can keep the birds cages next to each other for company and allow them to play together supervised.
