Quaker with short nails and bent toe

Hi, My boyfriend recently bought me a Quaker from a pet store. the bird is approx 8 months old. He has very short toenails on all of his toes. Some toes have no nail at all. I thought this was abnormal but my boyfriend said the guy at the pet store said that it's because he is young.

I have never seen this is any of my birds before, so I don't think that it is normal. Also, on his right foot, one of his back toes is bent forward and looks sort of deformed. Is this cause for alarm?
