Red belied conure life span

I have 3 red bellied conures bought as young August 1998, sadly one of them died yesterday, is this a good age or not? I am now worried I will lose the others sooner rather than later.

Conure Life Span
by: Anonymous

This is extremely helpful information, since the standard line is 20-30 years life expectancy for a conure.

I just had a beloved jenday conure die suddenly at age 16. She was happy, in great health, with an excellent diet. An underlying heart condition is suspected.

Conure expected life span

An average life span is hard to come up with for birds, just as it is for humans. So much depends on the breeding, feeding, environment etc.

If your bird was bred by a good breeder and is fed 80% high quality pellets like Harrison's or Roudybush or and not exposed to toxic things, then it should live 15 - 25 years.

If your bird has not been examined by an avian vet, you should take the one still alive to an avian vet to make sure it is healthy. If you don't have an avian vet you can look for one on our Find an Avian Vet page.
