red bump beside my amazon's nostril

by Dayna White
(Manitoba, Canada)

Hello, I have a wonderful 4 year-old blue fronted amazon named Sunny. She has never had any health issues, however, today I am noticing a fairly swollen red bump on the skin surrounding her nostril. The bump is amongst the little black hairs that she has there. While giving her a litle scratch, I ran my finger along it and even tried pressing it to see if it was painful but she responded normally. Should I be concerned?

Thank you very much,
Dayna.

Yes, you need to be concerned. Dr B suggests that you Find an Avian Vet for your bird. It could be an infection that will spread and be much harder to treat if you wait.
