Red Spot on Conure's Beak

Yoshi's Blotch

My niece, who lives in Elkton, MD, purchased a 3 yr old conure that was a breeding bird from a breeder. Since then she has noticed a red spot/blotch on his beak. She thinks it is getting larger. He has no other symptons of being sick. Which I know doesn't mean anything with birds. This particular problem isn't something I have read about in my own searches about avian diseases. Is it something to worry about? What could it be? Thank you.

Conure beak with red spot
by: The Vet

This could be an injury for example from the cage mate such as a bite on the beak or the bird could have flown into something such as a window or mirror.

More seriously, birds do develop cancer on their beak. I cannot say what this is unless I could examine him, so you should have your bird seen by an avian veterinarian.
