Red-Lored Amazon has big lump on chest

My Red-Lored Amazon, aged 32 (I've had him since he was 6 months old), has a large lump on his lower chest/abdomen area which has formed over the last couple of months. It is hard and symetrical. It almost looks like the lower portion of his breast bone is suddenly very pronounced.

He seems fine and doesn't have any other issues. Any idea what this might be? Sorry, when I try to photograph him he gets happy and puffs up and the feathers mask the lump.

Thanks Tracie. It feels hard like a bone so it's weird but he doesn't seem distressed or anything. I will have him checked out.

This could be any number of things. Your avian vet will need to biopsy this to determine treatment, because a bacterial infection is treated different than cancer or a fatty tumor etc.

Please use this Find an Avian Vet link to find an avian vet for your bird so it can be examined to determine what is wrong and what the potential treatment might be.
