rehoming a bird
by: Tracie

I don't know if your bird will forget you or not. It depends on who you give your bird to, on how it will adjust. If you give your bird to someone that has bird experience or is willing to learn about Senegal parrots and will take the time to develop a relationship with the bird, it may not take long at all.

If you have not had time to spend with your bird, and the new person both has the time and takes the time, this will be a positive experience for the bird. Just make sure the new owner knows how messy birds are, how needy birds are for attention, how much it cost to take them to an avian vet once a year for check-ups and that they have a savings account for emergencies.

Make sure you give them what the bird is used to eating, and if your bird is not on a healthy pellet diet like Harrison's, encourage them to read our Switching Birds to Pellets article so they can switch the bird over.

We have several helpful articles on our Parrot Training page that could benefit them also.
