repiratory problems

my African Grey Parrot has been having problems with not being able to close her beak... i took her to the vet and they told me that she has a respiratory infection... they are going to start her on antibiotics... does anyone know what else i can do?... it's very expensive what they estimated to me... thank you

As far as something different than the antibiotics, no, I can't think of anything. Most vets will take payments, so you might ask about paying it out over a few months.

If your bird drinks from a water dish instead of a water bottle, switch your bird over right away. Our avian vet says that water in dishes cause a great number of bacterial infections because the water isn't safe to drink after about 3 hours. Add that some birds bathe in their water and dip food in their water, and you can see how birds are getting bacterial infections.
