Returning a conure

If I return a green cheeked conure to the pet store I purchased it from within the 14 day return policy, will the conure suffer any emotional trauma? I'm not sure I made a good decision purchasing this bird & I am struggling with the fact that I may have bitten off more than I can handle with this little bird. But, at the same time I don't want to return him & have him suffer an permanent emotional trauma because I made a mistake in purchasing him.

Taking a bird back to the store

If the bird is not right for you or not a good fit in your home, it is much better to return him now.

Made a mistake purchasing a bird

Dr B will answer your question within a few days, but I wanted to give my opinion.

First, I think it is good that you are asking this question, it shows your heart of compassion. Thanks for writing and caring for this bird.

I believe that your bird will have some suffering from being purchased and then returned. But, if you do not feel you and the bird will be happy for years to come, it would be best to return the bird now. The bird will forget all about you once it is in the home it is supposed to be in.

It is much better to be honest with yourself now, than waiting until the bird has bonded with you and then try to find a home for it.

Thanks for writing.
