Rough Breasted Lorikeet laying 2 eggs a week & eating dirt

My rough breasted lorikeet has been laying at least 2 eggs a week since July. She is also scratching around on the ground a lot and likes to eat dirt. Is this normal?

Had the vet check her out. He said she is one of the most beautiful, happy, friendly, healthy birds he has ever seen. We just love her too much. Just need to change her pattern a little bit to make her "less comfortable". He just said to make sure she is getting enough calcium which she is with the wild bird powder, fresh native flowers and fruit. The dirt eating is due to her wanting extra minerals

Wow, that is a lot of eggs! I strongly suggest that you Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird soon.

Please read our Chronic Egg Laying article while you are waiting for your appointment with your vet. The article is written by an avian vet.
