Scraping his bill on the bottom bars of the cage

He is scraping his bill back and forth on the bottom bars of the cage. Both top and bottom bill. What is he doing this for, never done it before?

Bird scraping bill on bars

Yes, this can indicate that there is a problem, for example, a foreign body in the beak, irritation from infection, sinus infection, sinus inflammation and other causes. Take him to see an avian veterinarian soon.

This is how parrots clean their beaks of food particles and so is normal. They also use their perches and toys to do this which is why their cages inside and out have to be cleaned frequently.
