seizure and smelly poo

by Trey

My lovebird has seizures and one of the results is smelly poop. I was wondering what would cause a strong smell and how it could relate to the seizures. This last week the smell has remained even though he hasn't had a seizure in that time and the fecal portion is kind of thick and green.

He's had them for approx 8 years and almost always between 4-7am. He is now 17 years old and was put on high potency pellet after they started. He also has a small piece of carrot & apple daily and peas and millet(health food store) every few days. He is out and supervised often and there are no metal/plastic toys in his room. He has been seen by a vet but the seizures don't last too long and he usually recovers well. Thank you. Trey

Bird with smelly poop and seizures
by: Tracie

You need to Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird. If you have already seen an avian vet and the vet did not run enough tests to discover the cause, then find a new avian vet.

Smelly poop is often due to an infection, but having seizures this long would probably be something else.
