when i stroke down the back of my red lored amazon it raises its tail in the air and a small vent opens up at the base does this mean it is a female bird also it is very attached to my husband calls for him etc and is very affectionate towards him thanks

my 4 month old cockatiel does the exact same thing,i was told hes a male when i bought him but now im not sure as he looks like hes got girly bits!

Determining parrot gender

Whether a bird likes a man or woman does not indicate the sex of the bird. The behaviors you are seeing are most likely female-related, but, sex cannot be determined this way. The only way to know for sure is DNA. You should have this done because males and females have different health issues, and knowing definitively the sex will help your veterinarian diagnose sex-related problems.
