Quaking Quakers
by: Anonymous

I have several quakers, 5 exactly. My first one, Willow (now 6 1/2 yrs.) was almost too young to come home with us. We had to hand feed her, when she got hungry and excited, she would "Quake", I call the breeder who explained this behavior to us. What a relief! It's normal for them when very excited or scared. My second one, Buzzy is around 3 1/2 to 4 yrs. old. He doesn't ever "Quake" he came to us for Willow when he was 1 1/2 and she was 2 1/2. They laid eggs for the first time this last summer, we had it all wrong, Buzzy was acting strange, then I seen it, the egg she was laying! We still didn't know if we had 2 females or? After the second clutch of unfertilized eggs, they laid again, this time 3 out of 5 hatched! We are proud parents! 2 of the babies have shown the "Quaking" when hungry.

Shaking wings
by: Mary Ann

My quaker never shakes her wings. Occasional flapping, but that is totally different. Sounds like something is irritating. Time for a road trip to your vet.

Quaker parrot shaking wings
by: Tracie

It is hard to say since we can't watch the bird. If this is new behavior, please take your bird to an avian vet to be seen. Your bird should see an avian vet once a year anyway.
