Never ever trim a beak! When a birds beak overgrows it is a sign of illness or liver problems, go take him to a avian doctor to get blood tests and see what the real problem is.

You need to take your bird to an Avian Vet and let them look at it. Usually they have to trim just a little bit several times.
Also, there may be a health issue that needs to be addressed that caused the beak to grow long.
