My male dove has red swollen eyes and they are watering the feed store gave me antibiotic but I would like to know what causes it

I just lost my job and have no money for a vet I rescued this bird from the time he was hatched

Many things can cause this, and Dr B can not tell what is causing this in your bird without examining the bird and asking you a bunch of questions about the environment, feed etc.

Please Find an Avian Vet to examine and diagnose what is wrong with your bird.

Your bird may not need the antibiotics given to you. You need to find out what is wrong and have the proper medication prescribed.

One thing you can do, is make sure your bird is not bathing and drinking from water that has been sitting out for more than 3 hours. Your bird should be drinking from a water bottle to prevent bacterial infections. Only put water for bathing in for 3 hours and then remove the dish.
