by Crystal
(Perth, WA)

Hi i have a scaley breasted lorikeet, and just over the past week i have noticed he has lost some feathers, they are in the bottom on his cage also when i take him out he looses a couple, could he be moulting? he is around 2 years old i have only had him for around 2 months though. also he sneezes quite regularly is this a bad thing?

Bird sneezing and losing feathers
by: Tracie

Your bird could be molting. If you see bare spots on your bird, then you need to be concerned but losing feathers throughout the year is normal.

Sneezing can be an indication of infection or disease. Dr B can not tell over the internet, so he suggests that you Find an Avian Vet to examine your bird in person to make sure it is healthy.
