Sore on rear

My Quaker parrot has a sore whitish in color on her rear. Her poop sticks to her. She is not in pain and is breathing fine, she still gets out and interacts like always, she blinks her eyes like always I was watching her to see if she blinked slow or was sleepy a lot or puffed up alot and she doesn't. She has been making bonding moves towards me like rejeratating a very small bit and pruning and grooming me....She is 2 years old. I have been soaking her in warm water and she thinks its play bath time and doesn't mind at all... she eats just like always and her poop is the same color as always. I do have a vet appointment set up but it isn't until Saturday. Is there anything else I can do or that I need to watch for?

Bird with sore on rear
by: The Avian Vet

There is nothing that I can recommend you do at home. This needs to be examined and treated with appropriate medication.

thank you

we are fine from the weather but it is starting again...
I am so weary from waiting for the appointment though... I know birds are so little and a small thing can turn into a big thing really quick...
The vet does know why she is coming and if he felt like it was an immediate danger I would think he would call her in sooner...
Thanks for all the replies... I am just keeping her on a good diet and the warm soaks. The warm soaks seems to help her the most...

Sore on rear

Hi DeNisa, this is not an emergency so I'd say the best thing to do is to wait until Saturday for the vet to see your bird. Everything seems normal otherwise EXCEPT for the lump on her rear. I know that you'll worry but wait until Saturday and observe her eating habits etc. Take care and God bless.

poop and tornadoes

Do hope you were not hurt by the recent tornadic activity in OKLA?

Am glad that you have a vet appt. set up. It will definitely help you to stop the worrying and learn some specifics in order to take care of your loved one.
