Splayed Legs

by Chris
(Portsmouth)

Hi, I have a five and a half week old baby budgie that has just left the nesting box, and I have noticed the budgie has splayed legs, I have been informed that because the budgie is over 2 weeks old there is nothing I can do. Is there any advice you can give me?

Bird with splay leg
by: The Avian Vet

The advice you have been given is correct. It is too late to do anything for splay leg. Depending on the extent of the problem, your bird can adapted and lead a happy life. You should get some direction on how to set up the cage properly for him so he can move around. Have an avian veterinarian look at him to help with this.
