stop eating pellets

Sudden changes in behavior, and this includes stopping eating a favorite food, indicate illness. You will need to take your bird to an Avian Vet ONLY so your bird can be examined for infections both viral and bacterial. Birds do not get over these infections without them being diagnosed and treated by Avian Vets ONLY. Regular dog and cat vets are not licensed or trained in the medical care of birds, so take your bird to an avian vet only.

Thanks for writing,

Bird not eating pellets now
by: Tracie

Have you read Dr B's Switching Birds To Pellets article and follow those instructions?

If you are only providing pellets in the morning and afternoon, and not giving the treats until evening then your bird should be eating them.

Make sure when you turn off the lights in the evening that you remove all the food from the cage. That way when you put the pellets in the dish in the morning the bird will be hungry and eat them by evening when you are ready to put healthy treats in the cage.
